2018 Frequently Asked Questions
Why the change to using handicaps in the Regular Flights rather than qualifying scores?
We have been considering this change for the past few years. We've noticed a problem where players will post a substantially higher score in qualifying than their handicap would seem to permit. Because the high scores in both the Executive and Senior Men's Champ are seeded in the regular flights, this only made the problem worse. Players with single digit handicaps would shoot scores in the 90's and consequently create unfair matches in the regular flights. We believe that this change will make more competitive matches in the regular flights.
What if I don't have a handicap?
We are requiring that players must have a handicap (unless you are in the Junior, Men's Championship or Ladies Championship). There are many options for inexpensive or free handicaps on the internet.
I am playing in a championship division, however, I have a conflict. Can I play my qualifying round on a different day?
No. All players must play on the day stipulated on the registration form.
Are there separate divisions in the juniors for boys and girls?
No. All juniors are placed in flights solely based on their qualifying scores. Girls will play from the red tees during the qualifying round as well as during the match play rounds. Boys play from the white tees.
Are there caddies available?
We have a very limited supply of caddies. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like a caddie.
Can we take carts in the championship divisions?
Any player in any division (except juniors) with a valid drivers license may rent a cart.
I won my division last year. Do I have to qualify?
All returning champions in the championship divisions only are automatically seeded number one in their division this year. Players may play a practice round during the qualifying days.
Can we make our own foursome during the qualifying rounds?
Players in the SAME division may request to play together. These requests will be reviewed by the tournament committee.
Can juniors have caddies?
Yes. Juniors may have a caddie.
What are the prizes?
Gift certificates from the pro-shop are awarded to all winners, runner-ups and consolation winners in all flights. Trophies are also awarded to winners of all championship divisions.
